LOCATION
A UNIQUE SOUTH AFRICAN BUSHVELD EXPERIENCE IN THE HEART OF THE KLEIN KAROO WITHIN THE GARDEN ROUTE, ONLY 5 HOURS DRIVE FROM CAPE TOWN.

We are located 6.5 km just outside of Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich capital of the world. The lodge is situated only 300 metres from the tar road leading to the Cango Caves.

The main lodge area is right next to a 5ha waterhole, filled with big fish, turtles and hippo. From the wooden deck that surrounds the lodge area, you can see our elephants walking, our hippo and fish in the water as well as other game grazing on the opposite bank. If you are lucky you will even spot the fish eagle catching his daily meal. We have a wide variety of activities such as Bush Safaris & Elephant Feeding & Brushing and Walking.

We are also well equipped to host conferences and weddings and have in house specialists that can assist you with this.

LUXURY WATERHOLE ACCOMMODATION
(9 units)

Experience true “African” style waterhole accommodation in Oudtshoorn. Our accommodation (waterhole tents) are perfect for those who enjoy the closeness of the water’s edge. The sundeck on each waterhole tent overlaps the water’s edge and is the ideal spot to relax during your stay with us. Enjoy sundowners on the deck whilst viewing our free-roaming animals in the water and surrounding banks.
Due to the current drought in the Oudtshoorn region, the Waterhole may not be 100% full at the moment. Check when booking.

LUXURY ( HORIZON VIEW ) ACCOMMODATION
(20 units)

The luxury tents are set only a few metres away from the waterhole and provide an elevated view of the surroundings. They also have great views over the whole lodge area and is surrounded by true Karoo fynbos.

LUXURY FAMILY ACCOMMODATION
(5 units)

The Family units have a spacious main room and a children’s room with a shared en-suite bathroom separating the rooms. These units can accommodate a family of up to 5 people. The family tents provide an elevated view of the surroundings and Swartberg Mountains and is in walking distance of the 5 hectare waterhole. True Karoo fynbos and bushveld surrounds these tents, creating an authentic bushveld experience. One might even be lucky enough to spot wildlife in the distance.

RESIDENTS SWIMMING POOL
A residents-only swimming pool with deck chairs is conveniently located near the tents. The pool overlooks our waterhole and great Swartberg Mountains. To avoid disturbing the wildlife, no swimming is allowed in the waterhole. Fresh drinking water and towels are provided at the swimming pool hut.

A LA CARTE RESTAURANT

Specializing in authentic Karoo cuisine, the Buffelsdrift Restaurant offers guests a delicious a la carte menu of homemade foods and local fresh produce. As accompaniment, our wine selection consists of some of the best award-winning wines on Route 62, South Africa’s longest wine route.

Our restaurant also expands to the wooden deck, overlooking our 5ha waterhole filled with big fish, turtles and hippo. If you are lucky, you might even spot the elephants and other game on the opposite bank.
